FHSS Alum named new Saskatoon police chief

Last Wednesday, the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners named Troy Cooper the new Chief of the Saskatoon Police Service. Troy's new role also marks a first for the Saskatoon Police Service: he'll be that city's first Métis police chief.

What struck me, in reading about his appointment in the Star Phoenix, were the many references to Troy's community leadership, and in particular, his engagement with Saskatchewan's Indigenous community. Troy is a great example of AU's I-CARE Values in practice, as well as the impact that AU students are making in communities across Canada.

This alumnus holds a Bachelor’s of Professional Arts in Criminal Justice from AU's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), after which he went on to Australia-based Charles Sturt University for an MBA in law enforcement and security.

Congratulations Troy!
