Biography

Natalie Sharpe (B.A. Honours – 1st class, M.A.), received extensive training in the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation program. She has been a lecturer and tutor in alternate dispute resolution, anthropology, sociology, and labour studies for Athabasca University, Grant MacEwan College, and several First Nation colleges in Alberta. She was a land claims research director for the Metis Association of Alberta in the late 1970s, and a researcher editor for the first edition of the Canadian Encyclopedia in the early 1980s. She has also been active in union organizing and negotiation, and has served on the CUPE 3911 tutor executive in the capacity of co-chair and grievance officer. She has been an ombudsperson with the University of Alberta since the mid-1980s, and has practical experience in negotiation, mediation and administrative tribunal hearings.
